Using controlled mechanical press forging processes, we produce forged parts with precision, consistent grain structure, and dependable mechanical performance.
With over 100 years of forging experience, Milwaukee ForgeTech works closely with OEM manufacturers and engineering teams to develop custom press forged components that meet strict performance and reliability requirements.
What Is Press Forging?
Press forging is a metal forming process in which heated, but not liquified, steel is shaped by compressive force applied by a forging press. Unlike hammer forging, which uses repeated impacts, press forging deforms the metal with controlled pressure that pushes the material into the cavity of a custom metal die.
When the press applies force, the hot metal flows uniformly throughout the die. This controlled deformation allows manufacturers to produce components with excellent internal grain flow and consistent shape. This process is also called closed-die forging.
Press forging is commonly used to manufacture parts that require:
strong mechanical properties
precise dimensions
consistent structural integrity
